For the nights that are already a little bit special
Anniversaries, birthdays, a first date and a fortieth, the dinner after the graduation and the lunch after the funeral. 1830 Chophouse has been the room for all of them, in a Main Street storefront that has stood since 1872 — half an hour up I-65 from Indianapolis.
What people book us for
Two seats or the whole room, the same kitchen either way
Most of what follows is a normal reservation — you do not need an event coordinator to celebrate something. Fourteen guests or fewer, book the table. Fifteen or more and we will hold a room, set the menu ahead of time and invoice it properly.
Anniversaries
Low light, white linen, and a surf and turf that pairs the 7 oz filet with a lobster tail done thermidor. When the Speakeasy opens this fall it will be the quietest table in the building — its own bar, a working fireplace, and a room you can take privately if the evening deserves it.
Birthdays
A 32 oz tomahawk arrives with two sides and plates for sharing, which turns a birthday dinner into something the table does together instead of six people eating in parallel. Seasonal crème brûlée and a cheesecake that changes with it close the night.
Date night
A short, deliberate menu, a proper cocktail list, and a walk around the courthouse square afterwards. Book anything from a Tuesday at six to a Saturday at eight — the weekend prime rib comes out after four and goes until it is gone.
Business dinners
Client entertaining, a closed room for a speaker program, or a table of four where the conversation matters more than the noise. An itemized invoice is standard, and the private rooms have house sound and a projector already in them.
Graduations & family milestones
Retirements, promotions, confirmations, the last dinner before somebody moves away. Fourteen or fewer books as a normal reservation; fifteen or more we handle as a private event so the room and the menu are set before you arrive.
Sunday, with everybody
The brunch buffet runs sundays, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, at $42 for adults and free for children six and under. It is the easiest way to get three generations around one table without anybody ordering off a kids' menu they have outgrown.
Holiday gatherings
December books early and it books out — office parties, family dinners, the night the whole extended family is finally in town. The banquet hall takes plated dinners, buffets and stations, and the courtyard runs lanterns and heaters while the season holds.
Celebrations of life
A funeral luncheon or a memorial dinner, handled gently and quickly. Tell us the day and our coordinators take it off your list — there is no minimum conversation to get through first.

Reservations take about a minute and go through TablesReady. Tell us in the notes what the night is — an anniversary, a birthday, the first dinner out since the baby — and the room will know before you sit down. For anything that needs a door on it, the inquiry form goes straight to our in-house coordinators.
